Children constantly grow and the hormone that supports and controls growth is a Hypothalamus hormone called Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone GHRH. This hormone can be impaired by shock and stress.
Changes in children’s height and weight caused by increases in bone, muscle and fat are the most immediate signs that the child is experiencing a growth spurt. Other signs of a growth spurt include: Decrease or increase in appetite. Fussiness or emotional outbursts.
Puberty causes rapid growth around the age of 12 to 14. Boys can change in size exceptionally quickly. Changes in voice, physiology and height occur tat this stage in a young persons life but growth usually slows down and stops at about 20 to 21yrs old.
