The exact cause of depression may not be known. Although with careful investigation it is possible to find the cause. Our research has shown that toxicity due to heavy metals such as mercury may be a cause as well as toxins in the environment. Many researchers believe it is caused by chemical changes in the brain. This may be due to a problem with your genes, or triggered by certain stressful events.
Some types of depression run in families. But depression can also occur if you have no family history of the illness. Anyone can develop depression, even children.
